When buying a car in Montreal Canada, do I need insurance at time of registration?
I am buying my first car in Montreal this Friday from a private party. When I go to register the car, will I need to have proof of insurance? So do I buy the insurance in advance and then take the proof to the registration?
You cannot get the ownership transferred into YOUR name without having a proof of insurance slip, with your name on it, at the Provincial office.
No insurance slip, means no transfer of the ownership and no plates, either.
